the 90's were great, but i think you guys are just being a little biased for the time ya'll grew up in, because from 1999-2005 rap fucking sucked. everything was about jewels and cars, one of the biggest songs was "in da club", songs were made about spinners and getting shot gave rappers a deal.
rap's been coming back in a big way the passed few years, ya'll just need to broaden your tastes from commercial rap. 2010, 2011, and so far 2012 have been GREAT for hip hop.
It's not really hiphop no mo... Future, lil b, waka would have never gotten a deal
Omg i hate when ppl say shit like this there has always and there always will be wack rapper, that doesnt mean hip hop died how about instead of focusing on the bad artist who arent even that successful you focus on the good ones.
idk what the best era of hip-hop was but i like 07-09 as the best wayne era. 09 was the best mixtape year ever flight school, so far gone, no ceilings, there is no competition 2..

It's tha truth, niggaz back then could rap but couldn't make a song or hit.... They could rap better then them...... I'm sayin this and I like waka but back then no way in hell these 50 tyson azz rhymes would get u slapped and kicked out tha building.....
this is the reason the game changed its so easy for anybody that wants to pick up a mic to get exposure its hard to sift through the shitty garbage to get to the gems
yeah. back then if you weren't doing shows, tv, or radio--nobody had a clue who you were.
1992-2007
These past few years for hip hop haven't been that good imo, but I like the way it looks like its heading too. I like alot of these newer artists who are actually lyrical and have concepts in their music. A$AP Rocky, J Cole, Meek Mill, Slaughterhouse, Kendrick, Big KRIT, and a few others are the newer artists that have good ass quality music
