  • Misogyny in rap

So I was over here the other day, NO ONE HAS DONE IT BETTER and there was a healthy debate on Jay-Z and his misogynistic lyrics, and how he has claimed in interviews to have turned a corner and no longer use the word bitch, and that he is ashamed of his previous work.

How do you guys feel about misogyny in the game? Is it just for entertainment, or does it go too far?

There aren't many rappers that don't say "bitch" in their music

is it acceptable now days though?

No-one goes in on Chris Brown despite his lyrics being super misogynistic, and despite the fact that he beat the FUCK out of Rhianna..

I just find it weird, in such a pc world, that this is still acceptable

it's not acceptable. But when women accept it, are proud of the label even, then what do you do? It becomes the way it is.

I think that's so true. Eminem said it a few times, you don't listen to the lyrics. On syllables he nailed it. Look at robin thicke's blurred lines! It was massive and women adored it, till someone pointed out it was one of the most disgusting songs ever.. All of a sudden they go oh yeah.

People don't listen to lyrics close enough IMO..
