  • Do rappers get money from mixtapes?

Really don't know. In few songs they say that they get money but it doesn't mean that it's true.

Depends on how it's marketed really. If a song charts I'm sure they get money, but I'm not a rapper lol

... huh? Oh. I meaaaaan it's like some people said already - it depends. An aspiring rapper is going to either get his beats for cheap or lease them, and it's not really about selling it at that point. It's more about growing the fan base. You can't quantify a mixtape's success off of physical sales, because most major label and popular wrappers invest money in a mixtape then do a tour with the songs. Mixtapes are albums more than anything now, so truthfully the era of a DJ spinning someone's tape and having a billion of drops on it has died out and gave way to artist producing creative projects at rapid speeds and capitalizing off the popularity of the tape with tours, merchandise, and press.

                  TL: DR - Yes.
