After nearly two years of court proceedings, Bobby Shmurda finally pleads guilty, accepting a plea deal and, accordingly, a 7-year prison sentence.
Instead of going to trial, which was set to begin on Monday, Ackquille Pollard, aka Bobby Shmurda, and two co-defendants, Chad "Rowdy Rebel" and Nicholas McCoy, accepted a plea deal from the prosecution today (Sept. 9), thus agreeing to serve 7 years in prison.
In accepting the deal, Shmurda has pled guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy, reports Billboard, as well as a 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession. The conspiracy charge carries a sentence of 1-3 years, whereas the weapons charge comes with a sentence of 7 years. Shmurda will be allowed to serve the two sentences simultaneously, so as of now, he is faced with a maximum sentence of 7 years. Along with the time in prison, he will also be subjected to 5 years probation.
Shmurda will not be able to appeal the sentence, though he will be compensated for the almost two years he has already served, meaning that his time left in prison will be closer to 5 years. He has been incarcerated since Dec. 2014, when he was arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit murder, reckless endangerment, and drug and gun possession.
Shmurda, Rowdy Rebel, and McCoy each accepted a "global plea deal," meaning that the prosecution's offer only stands if each defendant pleads guilty and agrees to the mandatory prison sentencing.
