you'd ask white people who their fav rapper was and instantly you'd hear "Eminem!" I question how many of those people really fucked with his music at the time. I could sit here all day trying to explain but Em is and always has been talented but my mind isn't there for what some of his earlier music was about. Props to him and he has a spot in the game and always will.. I just don't enjoy his music before he made his comeback. I have some opinions like that about a lot of artists these days. I used to listen to Wayne only religiously 24/7 and as I've grown up I've expanded and just seen what was out there. This can go for any artist really though.
To clarify I don't hate Em's old work, It just never grabbed my attention. I've tried to get into it. This goes with some of Wayne's work before Tha Carter 1. Like I'm not listening to The Block Is Hot .. I don't genuinely think many of the people on here are either when it comes to listening to Wayne on a daily basis.Last edited by danielnfl36; 05-18-2018, 02:19 AM.

i understand why you wouldn't be big on Eminem but Slim Shady LP is a damn classic and his best work for sure im not even a big Eminem supporter but you cant deny the greatness of Slim Shady LP
Recovery was a pretty good album as well from later on in his carrier but Revival and Relapse are shit

I'm by no means an expert on Em but anything before 09 just doesn't hit the vibes for me. I love crack a bottle for example.
Em kills it on Fast Lane too. Em will always be one of the best at purely rapping but later in his career he has learned to make actual songs. Bars take talent but actual song making takes even more talent as so much goes into it. Wayne got better with this over the years too admittedly. I say that as a big 2005-2011 and 2014 - 2016 Wayne fan. Anything before Tha Carter 1 isn't interesting to me. (I know it's going to ruffle feathers but it's just what I don't like) Wayne clearly always has had the ability to rap but Em and Wayne have become polished and better as their careers got older. For Wayne it was 05 for me. For Em it was 09.
To Clarify - Wayne has some old gems before C1 that I do like but as a collective those projects don't interest me.

I don't like new J Cole but 2009-2016 J Cole will always be a legend imo. Artists change and sometimes fans like it or they don't. Sometimes people don't like an artist until they change is pretty much what I'm getting at. Sorry for the long winded responses I'm just passionate about music discussion lol

I think I gave Revival like two or three listens and it wasn't great. It's listenable but that is about it. I like Relapse personally. Em has been on point since that album for the most part, I will say his feature game since Airplanes has been 10/10. I liked Bad Meets Evil as well. but like I said this is all after 09 stuff. He isn't the artist he was during the old Em days and I just like what he has done since he changed. I think that goes with Wayne over the years as well. Again you know I'm a huge fan but I gravitate to anything around C1-now.
