Sometimes people get stuck in their ways. I think it can be hard to become the best in one thing, because if you are the best there probably are a lot of people looking at you, your failures, your shortcommings. Reinventing yourself and being true to every fan is probably not possible. But also finding oneself in a new direction or to reinvent and innovate oneself without looking for the approval of others is not something everybody can pull off.
