Tips on mastering. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm looking for some tips on mixing and mastering my vocals. I use Acid Pro 6.0 to record on and Sony Sound Forge 8.0 for editing the vocals and adding effects. I also use Wavepad sound editor for some effects. I have a 20 dollar usb mic (hopefully upgrading soon). Right now I'm just running a preset on the Sony Sound Forge 8.0's equalizer and normalizing the tracks to make them louder. You can hit the link in my sig for examples. well u sure need a better lil more expensive mic if u serious abt ur music.. i recommend doing research before buying one.. not just go to radioshack or bestbuy and buying it jus like that.. and for mastering... I use Mixcraft 5, which i bought for $75 and ive learned how to master songs decently in like a month since it has pretty easy interface .. also (this used to happen to me) since u know the lyrics and the flow, etc .. the song sounds good for u.. not loud or too low and the words are clear bc u know the song... but then i showed it to other people and learned they cant understand it without reading the lyrics and listening closely.. so rap CLEARLY, try to match the quality with other songs from professional songs, and let a few people hear the song before putting it out .. soo u know from other ears how the song sounds before putting out..


just some stuff that i could think off..
and also a song cant be mastered in like 10 minutes (good mastering) so take ur time. play with it ..
i actually play around for a while.. with my vocals, the beat, effects, redo lines, sometimes redo verses, all so the song is better..

Id say download those. Those will give you MANY effects to help your quality. Not only quality but effects to just help your music get better in general. If you download them (Or even if you dont) go and mess with EVERY effect you have on your computer. It might take awhile, took me a couple long hours. But it WILL help you improve quality and also you will find effects that help your music in general. You can ask anyone who heard my music before the new year, my quality was shit.... And look at it now. I havent even gotten a new mic (Have a $55 Radioshack condenser mic). Only have got a pop filter. But anywats, along with that, use Jamerson's tips. Try and work to make your flow and presentation more clean and whatnot. Quality can only do so much to a song, you gotta make sure the listeners can hear the words good and vibe to it.
