Mics? I dont really know a good mic. I have like a $50 mic from Radioshack. Its good enough for me though rofl.

Software? I use Mixcraft. I got the code for the full version from someone on here.

Other software, would be, Autotune or any other effects you would want.

I get all my shit from btjunkie.org.

They got autotune and shit for free on there. I downloaded ita few weeks ago. its legit. Just search for "autotune". I downloaded the one that said "Antares Autotune VST v5.09 [T-Pain Software/Sound like T-P]". It works mayne. You gotta have a utorrent to download it though, something like limewire. In the autotune folder, there should be a a plug-in that says AutoTuneVST.dll . Just copy and paste that plug-in into the plug-in folder of whatever music program you use (such as mixcraft).

Well hopes this helps. Hit me up if you need help.

I'm working on the same thing myself.
I'm getting this mic:

I'm getting this mic because it has a USB interface, which I can easily hook up to my computer and record.
Software-wise, I use Virtual DJ and Audacity. They're both useful for different things. Audacity is easy to record on, and Virtual DJ is easy to spice up your tracks. You can download plug-ins for Virtual DJ, such as Auto-Tune. Virtual DJ also comes with some plug-ins pre-installed, such as a plug-in that changes the pitch/key of a selcted music file to make it higher or lower, and a brake like a DJ would use to wind down a track. Virtual DJ also makes it easy to mix two files.
Obviously this set-up isn't going to get you the best quality music, but it'll work. The quality of the music your studio produces all depends on the amount of money you're willing to put into it. This is just the cheapest way I've found
.

Well i'll tell you from what I use being that i've done about 50 tracks from my basement.

SOFTWARE
I use Virtual DJ mostly, sometimes Audacity and sound recorder for simple stuff. Sometimes FL Studio when I make my own beats and I make a lot of them but i only use the ones i like the most.

HARDWARE
I use a cheap ass mic but it actually comes through good the way I record. I also have a dm2 digital music mixer (mixman) that I use for a couple things like scratching, crossfading and cueing.

Basically that's how I do my tracks, I keep an acapella recording of everything and the instrumental/loop that I used too for post-mixing.
