  • Microphone Recording (input) Level

I need help with my microphone's recording (input) level setting. I feel like I am yelling into the microphone and it still sounds low when I hear it/export it from pro tools. I'm thinking since my input level is ALL the way down, I should turn that up and talk lower?

Is it better to have a high recording level and turn it down later or have a low recording level and turn it up later? although, the low recording and turning up is making it sound like i'm blowing the speakers out some times and it still isn't loud enough. help!

i have the mic level at 100% and then usually lower it if it seems too loud. i know if i put my mic into any usb port on the right side of my computer the recording level is also so damn low no matter what but if i switch it to the usb port on the left side its just perfect.

oh really? haha it's annoying..so you're saying that having the mic input level allllll the way down then turning up is not good? so turn the level up and turn it down after recording in pro tools?

Eh idk about protools but thats what i do to mixcraft cause really the default is 100 but i know you can raise it higher than 100% once you done recording your track. but try it and see if it works for you

          Re: Microphone Recording (input) Level

I have my settings where its about 50% input level on my recording program. But my computer recording input level is 100%. It works good for me. I don't really have to yell.

Where can I find input levels in the recording software? I thought only the mic's settings had input levels
