  • Coleon - Tabula Rasa

I've never made music stoned before. Written and recorded between 4am and 5am of August 10th 2011.
The title references a clean slate at birth and the lyrics are about my environment in relation to hip-hop.
The first punch in is intentional to note the flow & delivery changing. The proof is the subtle second punch in.
Without a good pair of head phones the change may sound really abrupt.

I was gonna call a song Tabula Rasa once but I never wrote it

This was a perfect song for you. Your delivery sounds great and your voice goes perfectly with the beat. There was only a couple slip ups here and there that I just think more time and a more clear head would have fixed. Dope song though.

P.S I caught your second punch in.

Bullshit. I said it came after the word and the punch came before. I knew something was weird with that word I just guessed wrong.

I agree. I think being high kind of stopped me from seeing a few flaws in this.
I actually started writing my lyrics on paper so idk when the next time I have them on hand will be lol.

Song sounds dope. I like ur flow, im just not really feeling the beat. But ur lyrics are good and the song gives off a real/personal experience type of feel. Good work man. Emotion is key to anyone feeling ur music.

Thanks man. I thought the beat was the best part even after I put my vocals on lol.

Your stuff has been hit and miss to me in the past (well I think it's you I've been away for ages lol), but this was definetely a hit in my books. I've used this "Better Days" beat off Rockitpro myself so obviously I'm a fan of it haha. Flow was 95% bang on, best I've heard you. Lyrically, again, best I've heard you. The bit where you change the flow up midway into shorter "half sentences" if you like was a little abrupt (not sure if that's the bit you reference in your opening post), however it didn't take you off beat or anything, it was the change in delivery that threw me off.

However you definetely made a "doubter" like myself sit up with this track, and once again compliments on the beat choice. Personally I think it's a little mellow to be going that "hard" on, however that's probaly more personal choice than any sort of critique.

So aye, I enjoyed it mate, and I make sure I don't say that on here falsely to "make people feel good". Genuinely strong effort, though next time maybe stretch your mind melodically and try drop a hook or even a second verse and see where it takes ya. Good shit.

Now that is feed. Thank you. I've never done a 3 verse song with a chorus, but I may have one out very soon.
