  • Studios in NE Philly Area?

One of the main reasons I feel my music isn't as good as it's potential is, is because of the recording quality of the track. I do my own recording in a room of my house, nothing special. I'm also not very experienced with mixing and mastering, etc. Does anyone know any good studios to record at in the North East Philly area? I found one but they seem very expensive, they charge 100/hr but mixing and mastering included. That seems a little high even though the mixing and mastering is included. Does anyone know any good studios in this area?

Thats actually really good with mixing and mastering. What mic do you use?
The borders should be illegal instead of the people, who were here before the bible and all of its sequels

I mean yea it's something i am trying to pursue which is why i want to look more into it. And its an average mic, wasnt too expensive. Its a blue spark, it came with a shock mount and pop filter. I use mixcraft 5. Idk if the reason why its just not a good mix is because its my own voice? Because what sounds ok to me with my voice sounds distorted to others

Keep playing with the vst plugins and the equalizer. EQ is everything. If you don't EQ your voice you will always sound like you are rapping over the beat instead of your voice being mixed in with the track. Also make sure you use a compressor plugin.

I've been messing with it for over a year and I'm finally starting to get the vocal sound I want. Keep trying at it in your house before you get real professionals to work on it. Master flow and delivery before getting outside help.

that mic is good enough, dont spend money on a studio, theres a bunch of tutorials on youtube that will show u how to get studio quality at home, and u should use adobe audtion or cool edit pro instead.

But investing in a studio is a bit unrealistic since you dont even have a big fan base or anything yet

I get what you mean, but the first impressions are always everything which is why a good mixed track would sound better to someone than an average recorded track. It would make them listen to more than just the quality of the track if that makes any sense

Well I mean if you don't mine spending money then go for it. But you might spend like 50 bucks to get a good sounding track to find out when you put it on YouTube it gets like 32 views and no comments.

But then again if you pay for studio time you tend to go harder since thats your hard earned money. Like when you buy the exclusive rights to a beat for 200 bucks you'll make sure you went hard on that beat since you just spent 200 bucks on that shit.

I know exactly what you mean, I just feel experimenting with it would be an experience. Because with no studio quality I would get less than that. So just to take the chance to lay down a good track at a studio to maybe get something better of it is easily worth $50 to me personally.
Your also right here which is another reason i think id want to just try it. See if i get into it more because im actually putting more into it.
