Ive been contemplating dropping a mixtape for a while now, but i feel like there would be no advantages to releasing over just dropping singles. outside of this website and my actuall friends. i have 6 fans that ive gained from dropping songs over twitter (which i im really appreciative of) but thats not nearly enough to warant dropping a tape. honestly who would listen to a whole mixtape of someone they have never heard of. ill be lucky if they would click on a 3-4 minute song . i just want to hear yall thoughts. if i do drop one its gonna be pretty short something like 5-10 songs.

Making a mixtape of roughly 10 songs is a good tool to pass around to gain a fanbase. If nothing else but taking your singles and bundling them together

I used to do that to , but ehh I honestly just want people to be like "ohh u rap? , lemme hear ur shit" and then i show em the tape. Which is why I'm working so hard on it, i dont even think ill finish by march 25The borders should be illegal instead of the people, who were here before the bible and all of its sequels

Re: Point Of A Mixtape When You Dont Have A Fanbase?
Creating an entire project is so much different from just creating a song...I think mixtapes are a good pre-album mechanism that gives you experience in how to put together a well thought out project. Especially if you're making original songs.but if you like to go over people's beats..its a great way to flex your lyrical muscles...not as much structure and organization...you can just spit and spit...
I was driving around University Blvd in Charlotte like four days ago..and I fucking heard "Pusha Man ringing from someones sub woofers...I was like nigga where you get that from...and he was like my nigga put me on...that shit put me on high..I was like damn im happy I put out In My Own Words....I don't even know who gave it to him but I felt like that shit for a couple mins....Do your tape bro...never know who might hear it...Last edited by Cli-City; 03-14-2012, 09:18 PM.Mississippi x California x North Carolina
