  • New Beat + New Website Layout + I'm Hosting A Rap Cypher Contest

Alright so kind of a big post here

First off, I've got a new beat:
    MP3 Player SoundClick

Really gritty/lo-fi type sound -- it's a pretty simple beat but I made it with the cypher in mind so I wanted to keep it pretty straightforward but honestly I really like the emotional grime of the sample

Anyway, speaking of the cypher, here's the video for my first cypher contest:

(god damn is it awkward to just be alone in a room talking to a camera and I hate how I come across on video)

Prize is only $25 just because I wanna get a vibe for how many people this is gonna pull in -- the video has only been up for 2 days and I already got 4 entries so that's dope but I'm hoping to pull in around 20 (deadline is August 21st) [btw I'm going to try to do one of these on the 1st of every month and the deadline will always be the 21st of the respective month so jump in or get a buddy to do something -- the more people the more I can up the prize money)

Lastly, I made a new layout for my website so if you could, please just go to it and run through it real quick and just let me know if any of the elements seem off or misplaced
SoundClick artist: AfterTouchBeatz - Hip Hop Beat Maker -- Mostly Do Old School, East Coast Type Beats But I Try To Mix It Up As Often As
--Mainly concerned that the YouTube video will get pushed around on different resolutions (I use 1920x1080) and the PayPal button / music player so let me know if anything gets pushed out of the grey box that it should be sitting in

Thanks guys!! this is a massive post so drop a link to one of your threads and I'll definitely hit you back with some feed if you can give me your thoughts on any of the shit I have here

First off, I definitely didn't picture you looking like that either lol.

Second, I actually dig the first beat you have for the cypher so I might actually do one.

Third, your website looks raw. Nothing wrong with the dimensions on my computer.

TO EVERYONE WANTING TO MAKE IT:
Did you know you could lease 10 beats from this dude for like $100, and have a perfectly marketable tape to pass around to every blog, dj, etc? And get it pressed and printed for only like $200 (im guessing). That's a proverbial "foot in the door", at least in your area for starts, for only a $300 investment.
Also an iTunes aggregitor (the people that post stuff on there for you) is only like $59/year for an album, $15/year for a track... so if you're willing to invest in your career, its not a bad start.

YouTube is great, but sometimes you gotta G.R.I.N.D. on these streets and put the money into it to get where you want to be. That's why if I were you, I'd fux with these producers on here. Easiest way to get a good connect and launch both careers if you work together.

Your new site looks great, and works great on my comp.

Ya know... I think when I finish work on LIVE! I'm going to make a whole tape with AfterTouch beats and see what it sounds like...Maybe I'll take myself up on my idea...

beat is awesome has a feel emotive vibe to it, definalty sets a mood, drums a lil on the reverbed side but still thats cool, the melodies work nicely man, the cypher contest is a dope idea, but think you should perhaps offer free leases on ya beats steada prize money imo, just because people wont be inclined so much to spit osmething for 25 bucks but would deffo wanna earn there self a beat lease or soemthing , and the layouts dope homiee!!

          always dig ya production

The only way this idea would work is if both rapper and producer had the same vibe for each others work. A rapper can't flourish with beats he doesnt vibe/connect to and vice versa. Its a little bit easier for a producer(in my opinion) to work because he makes his stuff off of his emotion, vibe, feelings, etc. But for a rapper to connect with a producer they need to relate to the producer in a way, to work with the type of work. I might just be rambling ahahaha but im just saying.

or people stop bein pussies and producers (or rappers) forcefully try to collaborate with each other. Beats are versatile and rappers can easily be chosen who are best for. And if the song ain't good whatever, move on. but if it is good, that opens a door for more 'collaboration contacts', ya diggg?
Expect a production for a rapper on here within the 1-2days

I never said that aha. I was just saying! For a rapper and producer to both grow in their career with each other, they have to feel eachothers work !

prop'd man, I can definitely get any of you guys a discount on beats too, even if you're not buying 10 -- some of you guys frequently post in my threads and forums is where I started out so I have no problem hooking some of you guys up with like 25% off or something, maybe even 50% if you constantly post like Mykill or TupacShaquer

props man -- yeah, I was actually thinking about doing the free lease idea starting with my next contest; having a choice of either prize money (which will probably go up to $50 next month, still haven't decided) or you can take like 5 free beats or something or like 3 free premium leases; still gotta work out how I want to do it but that's definitely something I'm thinking of offering in the futurethanks for the feed on the layout man; now that I feel pretty comfortable making my own layouts (made the last 3 myself) I'm gonna try to switch it up every 2 months or so cause I can pretty much knock it out in like 2-3 days now

gotta spread for props man but thanks for the feed -- love how this one came out, been looking into that chillwave shit that just super smooth but super lo-fi like you said; gives off a nice like dreamy relaxed vibe
