To Start Recording

I need to know the basics before I do it. I have always wanted to because I feel I have the voice and I have the creative mind to get some good stuff out it is just I don't know the basics like costs, equipment, and other tips to get started.

So if anyone would be willing that would be great to get me started on perhaps recording.

Well, first just start out with a normal mic. You don't need any of that fancy shit right away to record.
So start recording over some beats, with your laptop or whatever shit you have.

Then if you want you should post what you've recorded here on HQ.

I have read your shit.
But recording is so much harder than it looks.
What sounds good in real life, in person spittin sounds so dif from recording.
You def gotta record a few tracks before you get the hang of it.
But i am stoked to see you recording.

Equipment
-Mic. It doesnt really matter. Just depending how much you are wanting to spend. You can also buy pop filters and shit for better quality. But like i said it depends on your budget.
-Software. Mixcraft is very easy to use. Its not free though. You could probably find a torrent online though. Audacity is a free program to use. I dont really like it though, its not hard to understand though.
-Beats. You can find beats on Jamglue.com and Soundclick.com. Most are free. Some have the producer tags on them. You can also extract beats you find on Youtube with video2mp3.net .

Then id just say to practice on your flow and delivery. We all know you got good lyrics. Just work on ya flow and shit.

I wish i woulda started out with the basic shit that they were talkin about because this pro tools is nothing easy. I spent
400 on an mbox mini+mxl 990 mic+monitor+chords, 90 for the external harddrive, 70 for the RAM upgrade
179.00 for the MXL 4000, 179.00 for the axiom 25, 40 for the Sample king tutorial DVDs
50 for the Pro Tools 101, 100 for the Autotune EFx, 40 for the i-lok, and 20 for the pop filter. I still dont know too much about the system. It would be easier to just use a basic recordin program like audacity or something like windows sound recorder.
