I need help and advice.

I know this would more belong in the Studio General Chat but I feel that because it's a bit long, a thread would be more appropriate but if not then feel free to trash it I guess.. Allright so like pretty much everyone on these forums, I'm a humongous Hip Hop fan, it's what I listen to all day every day. I really want to write verses and start rapping but I have an issue. Sometimes I feel super inspired and motivated to rap, I find a beat that I feel, I go to start writing but I can't figure out what the fuck to write about. I can come up with decent rhymes but I can never find a subject. I want to stay true to me, I'm not the type of guy who's gonna write about gangsta shit, being rich and fucking bitches when I'm all the opposite of that. How do YOU find your inspiration?

As long as your confident you can rap about whatever you want. 99% of rappers rap about shit they don't actually do (fake it till you make it / shock value etc), but most of it seems genuine because they're confident when they say it. Just write about whatever comes to your mind, if it sounds good it sounds good.

Not every song has to be meaningful.


edit: And I'm not saying rap about the shit you mentioned if you don't want to, I'm just saying loosen up your "allowed topics" a bit.

Personally I just write about what I feel. Write about what you go through on a daily basis or write about a girl you been trying to holla at lol. It's all about personal experiences that's what makes music real. Stay true to yourself.

But you don't need to sound like everybody else rapping about Bugattis and molly.
