start with fruity loops. if you got somethin to say and get some people diggin you, then you'll probably wanna move up to sampling and shit. use SONAR. grab a torrent and fuck with it. it's not easy to learn, so if you're serious you gotta be patient and put in work and eventually you'll get a idea of the shit. some bitches say pro tools is better, but i can do more with a couple windows apps than i can with pro tools. pro tools is just one of the "simple" ways to get quality tracks recorded mastered and shit.

if u wanna make beats then use Fl Studio but if u wanna make mixes a good program that i use is Mixcraft 4

I would suggest Fl Studio as well. As an entry level program it is excellent, and if you actually know how to use a computer there isn't much that you can't do with it.
