Back Down Memory Lane
I stumbled on this photograph…it kinda made me laugh…it took me way back…back down memory lane I see the happiness I see the pain…where am I…back down memory lane…
Mmmm!!!!
Momma!!! Can I do gymnastics???
No
Why not???
Cuz I said so!!!
Too late to be freed now I’ve been tainted
So young…and so lost not knowing that back in the day we lived a life where
Where…where…money bought everything in our home
See…I felt like I was alone in the world because everybody around me was doing things
I wanted to be…basketball…basketball
That was all me…
Pops ruined that dream
Basketball ain’t for women
While he was layin on the couch chillin like a villain lookin up at the ceiling
And critiszing how I’m feeling
Ha!!! Tiff you remember that time we got whooped for playin in daddys car
You know that old ass car that wouldn’t even start
You couldn’t even tell if we left a mark???
Fun wasn’t in our family games
We argued
And blamed
Each other for the pain that we were going through
Not knowing that it wasn’t you who did it
It was I…us that wouldn’t admit it
Growing up skinny and endin up fat
Wasn’t nobody feelin that
I use to get called names like pat
Baby D that ain’t me
Trying to hide the pain of my father and mother’s lip slang that kept us in a strain for years
No one knew the tears
They just seen the smiles
Ain’t felt happy in a while
But look what that did
That would mean down grading from a grown up back to a kid
You know it’s a darn shame going back down memory lane
(singing) I stumble on this photograph it kinda made me laugh…it took me way back…back down memory lane…I see the happiness…I see the pain where am….oh back down memory lane
