Drake is who he is now, because of the promotion, but he's still Drake. He's still good. Would he get as many spins now, as opposed to if he got signed to something else? no. but regardless, it was "fate" that gave Drake his situation now. What makes you think that Wayne wouldnt have heard him in some other instance? like in a video with Trey or 'Ye? talent takes you places man, as long as you got what sells and got the right promotion behind you.
