Tbh I'm not putting a whole lot of weight on those verses from right before prison. He was just trying to record shit so people would remember him while he was in. If his post-jail material is still like that, then I'll start to worry. From the little we've heard though, it's a lot better. I still think it's dumb that people don't like him using a lot of punchlines though, he's always done that. Not saying I don't like his storytelling songs and stuff (it's actually some of my favorite of his material), but the main reason he's regarded as one of the best rappers out there is because his metaphors and wordplay (e.g. his punchlines) are better than everybody else's.

Yeah I feel you on that. I know they were rushed (some a lot better than what free rappers were putting out), I just hope he doesn't continue that. From what we have now it looks like he isn't so I'm not too worried . His punchlines are sharpened now too, some of Fire Flame (Remix) ones kinda went over my head lol.

I guess I just really want him to release something to shut haters up, guess it's just a fan wanting the best. Which is why (to an extent) I'm glad he's taking long with whatever he's cooking up in the lab.

First week records are overrated its all about the long haul. If ya album sells over a million hard copies in these days, I mean in the US alone thats a blessing.

I agree, it's more about the long haul, some albums start off well and drop fast, but first week sales can help generate a buzz that can help sell records too. You might not know an artist has an album out then read "Artist X sells 500k" first week, and go cop it to see what the hype is about. Definetely agree on it being long term and consistent selling that matters tho.

Is it just me or has this site been gaining a lot of haters lately?? And why the fuck are people saying they would be mad if Wayne releases a song with a bunch of punchlines? Maybe you don't remember this, but he's always been a punchline rapper...

Because if I want a bunch of punchlines I'd buy a joke book Wayne has good metaphors, wordplay and punchlines when he tries, but it felt like it was just punchlines stuck together incoherently, plus the 100 variations of "im the shit" jokes and "my money is X, so call me the Y", was getting played out fast. It was sick the first few times, but he's a smart guy, he doesn't need to recycle lines, which he is, even if ain't word for word.

I agree a lot of his stuff was repetitive right before he went in, but like I said before a lot of that is just because he was rushing to get stuff finished to put out while he was in, so I'm not very worried about that

The reason C3 did 1mil is because he had a lot of hype from Carter 2, Mixtapes, lots of guest appearances and a massive single in Lollipop. Right now all he has going for him are 2 poor/average albums (Rebirth/IANAHB). I think he'll do around 500-700k but for that he needs to build his hype back up and release some dope songs/verses along the way.
