Me too. We looked so damn good in that Birmingham game, but every time we play away I hold my breath a bit.

Smallings was impressive to say the least though.

Smalling is very composed and calm for such a young player playing in such a tough possession. I feel if Ferdinand is gonna get injured which is a very high certainty then we have a good back up.

People are already talking a lot about Smalling and Evans as the defensive future of United, and they couldn't have better mentors in Vidic and Ferdinand.

People are already talking a lot about Smalling and Evans as the defensive future of United, and they couldn't have better mentors in Vidic and Ferdinand.

i think only one will make it and become the first choice centre back in the future, im leaning towards smalling. and then we probs more then likely buy another defender, a more established one to take over vidic when he goes or retires.

Edit. I also hope fabio makes it and takes over evra. then we would have Rafael and Fabio at right back and left back

i think only one will make it and become the first choice centre back in the future, im leaning towards smalling. and then we probs more then likely buy another defender, a more established one to take over vidic when he goes or retires.

Fabio will only play when Evra is gone. Problem is you can't just eject the French captain and put in some 20 year old guy. Evra is a staunch character and he would get quiet upset.

Evans isn't good enough atm and still needs to develop I reckon. Smalling much better then Evans, because Evans seems to panic at important moments whereas Smallings is always calm.

yeah i was talking about 5 years or so when evra is gone. i hope fabio takes over the lb position for years to come. hope he develops like rafeal, i think he will as he was higher rated then rafeal when we bought them both, he just had a harder position to fight for with evra there.

evans was class against l'pool tbh, after his bad form this season he was awesome that match.

Fabio could already be playing from this summer, Evra is sitting down with David Gill this summer to negotiate a new contract, and with confirmed interest of Inter this summer, and possibly Real Madrid, he would want big money to stay at Man Utd.
Not sure if Man Utd would could offer as much, but he has shown loyalty by staying this summer, and thats important.
