well, if i think about or look at only the disadvantages id totally agree with u.. but there r some advantages of being a saudi n living in saudi arabia.. sucjh as :

1- in Saudi Arabia, if a saudi student studies in college, he/she gets paid .. although it's like 300 dollars a month it's better than nothing and way better than having to pay and that is what happens the west.. that's one positive thing..

2- saudi people in general r friendly ,helpful and generous .. and tend to help others if they get in trouble without askin for any paybacks for their help..

3- we have 2 of the 3 holy mosques of islam.. one is in mecca where 3 mil people come to perform Pilgrimage every year not to mention it's it's the largest islamic mosque in the world and everyone of the 1,700,000,000 muslims all over the world must come once in their lifetimes to do pilgrimage .. the other is prophet mohammed's holy mosque in madinah .. the third is in Palestine.. that's an honor for our country to have these 2 holy mosques..and to serve 3 mil people that come in all over a period of 13 days every year

4- we have most of the world's oil beneath our land.. and 80 percent of saudies cant afford to buy their own houses.. lol thats a bad thing


nevertheless .. there r so many unreasonable n sutid rules in here.. such as:

1- all women must cover themselves in public .. thats a religious must but prophet mohammed never said or implied that they must be in black abayas (the wear that covers all the body except the eyes n hands)

2- if a male is seen with a female that is not of his own family (mother, sister..etc) then he gets arrested

3- grownup males r not allowed insides malls, parks and any other place that may have females in it..if a guy gets in somehow.. he'll be kicked out as soon as a security guy sees him

4- women cant drive

5- alcohol is forbidden (thats actually a good)

there are more bad stuff n good stuff that i cant quiet rememeber right now so.. i'll just say that most of the rules that r stupid r not necessarily derived from islamic principles but the government applies them to make individuals not think about doin other religiously banned stuff ... this sound sorta stupid but its the truth

yeah ridiculous as fuck but it's not applied in all the cities .. i live in the capital so.. most of the stupid rules exist here

becuz some minsters, princes and important officials want this country to be seen as the most islam-applying country in the world sinceit has mecca which is the center n starting pont of islam .. so they come up with such rules to show everyone that its ideal of some sort although it actually aint.. we have an establishment that controls and governs all the people and applies these rules to them.. it's called al "hay'ah" and its co-operated n supported by the police.. it's a long story... if anyone wants to dicuss the details n all that u can add me on MSN my email adress is in my profile.. peace

No offense but Saudi Arabia is a shithole of place to live. Iran is much better, at least in the Middle East.
