It's the same with producers. Just cause Jay and Pharrell are good friends, does that mean Jay never pays him for his beats?
I will admit that there are a lot of relationships where money isn't exchanged, but that's mostly when rappers are on the same label. Wayne, Drake and Nicki. Jay and Kanye. 50 Cent and Eminem. But when Kendrick Lamar appeared on MMLP2 on Love Game, I'd be you Eminem paid for it, and was happy to do so.

No. Jay-Z wanted Rick Ross on a track, so he called Rick Ross and said I want you on the track. If Ross asked for money, I am sure Jay paid him. But when Ross wants Jay on the track, you think Jay just does it out of the kindness of his heart? The guy is worth $600 million. He doesn't do free guest verses.

Also, you don't realize how many songs Ross and Jay have, huh? When you have a relationship with a fellow rapper and you speak to each other on a constant basis. You DON'T CHARGE THEM for a feature. If you're a low level rapper with no fame or buzz, they're going to charge. But not if you're cool with them or have a big buzz of your own.
Producers and Rappers are completely different, but they're two components that you need for a song, right? So of course they're going to charge for the beat. But do you think producers are going to charge other producers for collabs, that are within the same caliber? No.Last edited by Headliner; 11-12-2014, 07:47 PM.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
That's how the music industry works, especially in hip/hop. No matter how good of friends you are, it's still BUSINESS.........................

Answer this, do you think Young Thug paid for Wayne's verse on Take Care? Did Drake pay for Soulja Boy's feature for We Made It? Did Nicki Minaj buy a Soulja Boy verse and hook also? I mean damn, man. READ what I say, not just a few words sporadically.Last edited by Headliner; 11-12-2014, 08:22 PM.

Jay is not going to appear on a record for free. Kanye probably even has to pay, although he probably pays in hot beats

Lets put it in perspective, If Sonny Digital wanted to collab with Metro Boomin on a beat, they're both skilled and well established. Right? He wouldn't charge a thing to collab with him because they're on the same caliber. If it was some no-name producer and he wanted to work with Sonny or Metro. Then they would CHARGE the no-name producer because they're not on the same caliber!Last edited by Headliner; 11-12-2014, 10:51 PM.

How do you not understand that?
