Damn thats even worse then what I paid when just got a car.
Was about 1200-1300£ a year for a Mazda 1,8 from 1996. It's down to 650£ now for a VW Golf.
Didn't think it was that crazy in the UK, like that episode of Top Gear where the bought cars as young people showed.

Yeah it so bad in the UK because young male drivers have a very high risk rate of writing off the car. I'm one of those safe normal drivers and not a twat who speeds 24/7 and crashes their car after a month of passing...

such a shame that there are so many tits like that which makes my insurance high even though I am a safe good driver :/ Yours is not bad, mines 1,500 a year atm and will only go down loads now...I want a VW Golf too but I wouldn't be able to get insured on one at my age yet or if I did it'd be like 10 grand lol.

I wouldn't gain a "no claims bonus" plus if I crashed and had to claim on the insurance my insurance would be void because I'm not a main driver...basically fraud and insurances will do anything to NOT pay out so you're only giving them an excuse to not pay out doing it that way.

I wouldn't gain a "no claims bonus" plus if I crashed and had to claim on the insurance my insurance would be void because I'm not a main driver...basically fraud and insurances will do anything to NOT pay out so you're only giving them an excuse to not pay out doing it that way.

Learning a lot from this thread, Im 16 Btw, but reading through is jus making me think i wont be able to afford to drive anytime soon, coz of ridiculously high insurance and stuff

Just do third party fire & theft and it'll be much cheaper but if you crash your car the insurance will only pay out for the 3rd party and you'll have to pay your own cars damages repair.. I'm fully comp which means no matter what they'll pay me out..so if I crashed and wrote my car off they'll give me a cheque for 2,000 but third party if you crashed you would just lose your car and get no pay out..it's a risk..but if you're a good careful driver you should be fine!

Of course that helps but 60 mph are enough if some car suddenly comes out of nowhere. You just can't do anything sometimes. I would rather a full insurance. :/
