2:04 PM: Jon Jones refused to fight Chael Sonnen. Saturday, September 22nd, Jon Jones will fight Lyoto Machida.

i think it's understandable that Jon refused Chael...
Chael just got destroyed by Anderson, and thinks he's gonna have an automatic title shot in a higher weight class? The only reason he's offered such high profile fights is that he hypes them up out of nowhere...
I'm surprised they cancelled the whole event though, they've gotten people to fight on much shorter notice than a little more than a week..I mean, Machida walks around at like 208, he'd have no trouble making weight and being ready for Jon

I don't think it was really a situation where anyone was offered the fight, Chael was just the first person to step up and say he'll take it, and Dana's not one to tell a person who steps up no.

Dana White is the one who cancelled it though, he didn't have to do that,
and all the fighters that were on the card are getting reimbursed/a spot on the next card
and Machida turned down the fight cause a month wasn't enough notice...and people hate Jon for turning down a new fighter on 8 days notice...a fighter that doesn't even deserve a title shot I might add
This whole situation is a result of Dana White dropping the ball on this one, to cancel a whole card because of one fight is ridiculous
