Well, Kubrick is one hell of a weirdo... Never liked his style or his approach on movies - BUT that Full Metal Jacket? That's pretty damn good!
I really enjoyed that one, easily best Kubrick movie I've watched (others I've watched I rate in this written order: 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Shining, Dr. Strangelove...).
