My favorite MC's are still Ghostface, DMX, Wu Tang, Immortal Tech, Elzhi, Nas, Tech N9ne, Big Pun, Big L, Common, 2Pac, Jay Electronica, Lupe and Royce Da 5'9. Wayne used to be my number one, until 08 when he became a mainstream, pop rapper. Oh yeah, and the reason a lot of people who have my type of taste don't like Lil Wayne is because he branches out a lot and has way too much bad content in his discography and people never look back at his older works to see what he used to be, because they can't branch out. Hip hop heads nowadays stay in too much of a box. I was once in that same box. I never listened to the radio or paid any attention to the commercial rappers, but after I saw Wayne, who at the time was my favorite MC, was getting a lot more attention, I paid more attention to the mainstream. I listen to VERY few mainstream rappers. I hate rappers like Gucci Mane, Wale, Gudda Gudda, Soulja Boy, Lil Twist, Lil Chuckee, Waka Flocka, Kreayshawn, Diddy, Birdman, etc.
But, I gave the mainstream a chance and it turned out a lot better. Some of these guys are growing a lot in their works and becoming decent artists. Like Drake, Kanye West, and KiD CuDi. If you'd check out some of their mixtapes or underground content before they became popular, you usually won't be dissatisfied.
You say you listen to all those rappers, and if you do then you CAN'T say that Lil Wayne is a good rapper and makes good music. You just can't say that he has any talent. You may enjoy his music, but that's a completely different argument. From an objective standpoint no one who knows what they're talking about can say they Lil Wayne is a talented rapper, it's just so far from the truth. There's a time for his music, just like there's a time for all mainstream music; when you're at a party, when you're bumping in your car, etc, but that's because you're not actually listening to the music. You're just listening to the music as background noise, and that's what Lil Wayne is: background noise. No one wants to party to Common or Atmosphere because there's a different time for that, but you can't just be sitting by yourself listening to Hip-Hop and listen to Lil Wayne and think he is a good rapper because there are eons of rappers who are better than him.
And I definitely listen to mainstream rap because I give all rap a chance. Kid Cudi is my 8th most played artist, I bump Room For Improvement and Comeback Season and a couple of Drake newer songs, I don't like Kanye much anymore but his first 3 albums were great, I love J. Cole, I love B.o.B., among many other rappers. I even have Wayne, Gucci, Soulja Boy, etc on my iPod for whenever I have to play music at parties or when I want to get hyped and I plug my iPod into my stereo when I'm driving but I have the common sense to differentiate between party music and good music.
This posts goes out to all other posts responding to me.

You've probably never given his mixtapes a chance if you say that. He has freestyle capability. But like I said, since you're a bigot, i'm not going to argue because you have your head in your ass. I can go on all day, since i'm a bit of a bigot, but i'll let you stay in your box. Wayne is more than just a "party" rapper. Ying Yang Twins, Pitbull, 2Chainz, Flo Rida, Nicki Minaj, Gucci Maine, Lil Jon, or Chris Brown are "party" rappers, and I'd no way in hell listen to any of them and call them good. You do know you have to start somewhere and at one point, he was a lot less like "She li-li-li-lick me like a lollipop" and more like "I know the game is crazy, it's more crazy than it's ever been. I'm married to that crazy bitch, call me Kevin Federline." Wayne makes party songs because he likes to branch out and try to get to all audiences, but to call him a full time party rapper is like calling Biggie a full time party rapper. You know Biggie dumbed down for singles, right? I'm not saying Wayne is at the level of Biggie nor am I saying he's close, because the dude is centuries away. But he does have talent and to say he doesn't is just hating. I hate to use the word hating because it's immature, but you, sir, are being immature by being a Lil Wayne forum and calling him un-talented and a party rapper, that's not cool.
Yeah man he just went off
And please, PLEASE explain to me how I'm in a box. Because I don't like Lil Wayne? Lil Wayne is terrible, so yeah I don't like him. But I can guarantee that I listen to way more rap than you do so if I'm in a box it's much bigger than yours.

I'm Me is one of Lil Wayne's best tracks and it's decent at best. I would love to see someone explain anyway that Lil Wayne is good. Freestyle capability?

And a bigot is an person who strongly believes in his/her opinion. I can be a bigot if I want to be, because I have facts. And how is your box bigger than mine? I've listened to most of Wayne's material. He's funny, creative, has nice flow and delivery, and wordplay. Have you even listened to his Dedication II mixtape or his Drought III mixtape? Most or all of them are no-hook freestyles. Maybe you'd understand if you gave him a chance. I gave Big L a chance and now I love the guy. I thought he was overrated and nothing special because people called him the GOAT, but he's in the top 15 MCs of all time easily. I'm not saying Wayne is on the level of Big L, but I gave all of Big L's material a chance and I wasn't dissatisfied. And there are people who listen to real hip hop or a lot of hip hop who like Lil Wayne or atleast used to.
Maybe if you'd open your mind and stop trying to catch all the bad rhymes and bad punchlines, try to catch his good ones.

I don't need to know how much music you listen to to know that I listen to more than you. I've never seen someone on this site who comes close to listening to as many different styles and rappers than I have so it's not unreasonable to think that you don't either. And I have given Lil Wayne a chance, I used to listen to him a lot from like 06-09 before broadening my taste and thus discovering that he's really not talented. I've listened to most of the droughts, the dedications, the drought is overs, pretty much everything from that period of time. And him free styling all his material does not make it impressive. Lil B freestyles 90% of his songs, does that make him a good rapper?
What you "hip hop heads" need to realize is that everyone's not going to be a Big L or a Common or an Andre 3000 or a Jay Electronica or a Cannibus or a XXL or a Rakim or a Jean Grae or a KRS One or a Mob Deep. Each artists has their strong and weak points, but to call Wayne talentless and a bad rapper is pure hate. He has good content, you're acting like he's the worst thing to happen to hip hop since Soulja Boy, Machine Gun Kelly, or Vanilla Ice.
