I'm not an Apple fanboy or nothing, but usually their 'S' versions doesn't feature huge changes. Mostly it's the inside which gets an upgrade. They just threw in their new A7 chip and the phone is also the first to run 64-bit.
Also, as they said in the keynote they focus on things that's actually relevant and what is useful. Unlike samsung who put out their Galaxy 4 with a bunch of unnecessary gadgets no one will ever use other than to show off. It doesn't even work probably either.
