that would be cool, but i personally think that we all stay in earth as ghosts, mainly because i don't believe in heaven and hell and that could be fun

I'm not going to pretend that I know the origins of the universe, but the problem I have with religion is that it is more of a culture than a mindset.

Let's put it this way: if you put 1000 newborn babies on a desert island, none of them...absolutely none of them would even have the notion of their being a God, a heaven, a hell.

Similarly, you're far more likely to be religious if your immediate family members are too.

Scientists did a similar study on a bunch of abandoned kids who were found/raised by parents who didn't speak the same language.

It's not the exact thing I'm talking about, but it's reasonably close...I'll try and find it and I'll post back here

But what I'm saying is very few people who actually have the notion of a God (in the traditional sense) do so without being brought into it first (religious family members/friends, school).

I'm not debating belief. If you really do believe in God and it makes you happier/more comfortable, fine...what I'm debating is religion: that corrupt organisation that shortcuts every possible question with "God did it."

I dont understand peoples problems with religion? Church/Mosque groups help the needy, raise HONEST charities to provide for the homeless and those disaster zones, provide a place of sanctuary for people, take in people who most of society rejects and gives them a warm meal and a bed, gives ordinary people purpose in life and more why the f would you fight against something that makes so many people happy?

What so you cant drink some bitter shit tasting drink get shit faced and fuck a loose bitch and that makes religion bad? because you cant for-fill your selfish human instincts? i mean for real.

Reality is nobody on this huge rock levitating in nothingness will ever understand our divine purpose but when a reason to live is given to you why neglect it? its just so pointless, arrogant and starts so much shit with people who would much rather avoid confrontation im up for educational debates and this is my opinion on the topic.

No-one debates that religion -- or, more specifically, religious organisations -- do a lot of good...but at the same time they do a lot wrong.

-Some religious values are extremely oppressive. Just look at the stances on homosexuality, or on contraception.

-It doesn't let people live their lives the way they want to. Every choice, every decision comes down to, "What would Jesus do?" This, again, is a form of oppression. "When a man cannot choose, he ceases to be a man."

-Millions upon millions of people have died in the name of religion; the same cannot be said for atheism or nihilism.

-"Religion is the opium of the people."

Perhaps modern Catholicism has loosened up a little...but Islam still hasn't. And then there's the Orthodox religions that still believe in slavery, incest, rape, and murders.

Just go look at this site.
