I like it. It was different. When your on top, only the greats try to climb another type of mountain. Which is what he was doing. Like Kanye on 808's & Heartbreak. It was a good move. IMO. People get sick of the same shit, I know I do. But if you switch up they start to miss it more and anticipate. Thus we waited for IANAHB and currently wait for C4.
Tha Carter IV vs. Watch The Throne ???

Re: How do u guys feel about the rapper to rocker trend?

sorry im bringing up an old thread, but i just re-read all comments and had some more thoughts. im not positive but im sure lil wayne isnt the first to switch to rock. i just thought that after he did it, more ppl jumped on the bandwagon more than i have ever seen. and after last nights Unplugged, i would like to see Wayne maybe make an actual acoustic album, not just covers. and who cares what lil wayne dresses like. r u saying if tupac and biggie were still alive that they would be dressing the same that they did when they were alive? hell no. not just celebrities change their looks either, everyone does. @Weezy_KB24 back then singers sang, rappers rapped, actors acted, and comedians were just comedians. now a days ppl do alot more crossover. comedians become actors, actors become singers and vice versa. why cant musicians crossover genres? best example of that would be Kid Rock. when i was young i was young, mom didnt want me to listen to him because he was vulgar and obscene as a rapper. now a days mom would want me listening to him because he is country, not that profanity ridden music back in the day (as she would put it). now a days ppl like a celebrity for who they are. hell, im sure there is ppl that liked paris hilton as a reality tv star and now in turn, like here for her music (idk who, but someones gotta liek that stuff right? lol) I also agree with what Makaveli. said, you can only do so much of a genre these days, the artist itself probably gets bored, then in turn doesnt put as much into their music because they arent as excited about it. switching up genres keeps fans on their toes and interested. thats why movie sequels never usually do as good as the original, because you can only like so much of one thing. like lil wayne said in his Unplugged interview, he doesnt want fans to figure him out because if they figure him out, they will lose interest. i think that speaks to how he switches up his sound. well thats just me and more of my two cents

I think b.o.b learned guitar at a young age, and his style fits guitar better than a lot of people. I actually think Cudi will do good with the rock shit, because his music already kinda pushes limits. As for Wayne some stuff on Rebirth was cool, but I think he is better when he raps over rock beats like in "spit" and when he does some beastie boys shit like "fix my hat"

ya B.o.B does have a style for guitar. but not when he first came into the game, he was a gangster rapper. tbh, im not real sure y i mentioned B.o.B, i was just really into his album when i made my original post and i guess it just didnt feel like traditional hip hop and i watched a ustream of his concert where he played acoustics lol. about cudi, i feel like his shit is already "rock and roll" so to speak because its deeper, not like lupe lyrical "deep", but just like real heavy stuff. and about rebirth, ya i really liked it when it came out and had it on repeat, but i noticed i dont come back to it much like i still do C3 or no ceilings. waynes raps are always fire over any beat

this. @ everyone who doesn't like rock because its rock. Paradice/HotRevolver Ftw.. Rebirth was actually a very good crossing between rock & hip hop and has alot of different songs in it. I hope we will hear another rock album from Wayne, Im hoping for some harder rock... but Id be happy with the kinda stuff he mostly put out in rebirth which =/= actual rock, tho.

Waynes voice goes well with rock, believe me..
