It is. I bet if I asked you if TML was a classic you'd say yes..

I don't get how laughing at an artist you don't like is trolling.

Carter II is a classic to me but in the scope of hip hop its just outside of the boundaries of a classic album....Its the closest thing Wayne got to a classic to me though...Wayne really only has classic mixtapes....and enough classic songs around the time Carter III was being recorded together to make a classic album...but he never released a body of work that is not a mixtape that is a classic

You mean NY'ers who controlled hip hop media at the time ?

At the time of C2, there was literally nobody that could touch Wayne in mainstreem, that album showcases that. Just because it was not recieved by the "hip hop world" like that doesn't mean it can't be a classic. GRODT is a classic right? Is it better than C2 ? No, but the difference is 50 is from N.Y, the hip hop "mecca".

I define a classic album not only by the body of work but by the moment...Carter II's moment, especially for a mainstream hip hop artist wasn't anything special..Lyrically GRODT wasn't crazy but the production and realness of that album will always bring you back to a moment where 50 dominated rap..He came in and took over like a monster.....Classics are timeless albums...when you listen to them it takes you back to the moment where they were recorded and the actually mindset of that time...its like an introspective look at that time period through the eyes of that artist....If Carter III was classic musically, then it could've been deemed a classic, the moment was there and no one would've ever forgot the time leading up to and the time after it came out.....Making a classic isnt only about making a fantastic album, what does the album do ten years from the time it is recorded and you replay and relate to that time...can someone 40 years from now put it in and acknowledge the lyrical dexterity of the piece and can they take from it the same things people did when it was first recorded...A classic is a timeless piece of music that in its moment was flawless.....That moment has to be there and to me Wayne didn't have that moment for tha Carter II plus musically songs leading up to the Carter III were better songs than those on Carter II....Jay Z had classic songs...but his two classic albums has the most classic songs which shows that moment he made classic music he put them on a single album and it shows...you can actually say that Jay Z made his best music during those times...........

I know but what about ppl calling WTT a classic?

impact plays into it, but i'm saying region had alot to do with impact, atleast back then. C2 in the south had impact and can be considered classic album... in the north, different sentiments.

I consider the documentary what Carter II is...almost a classic....but I think Documentary a little better than Carter II though..just my personal opinion...

@ Chris..I can agree with that...Carter II is a southern classic...but nationwide its just a really great album....

There not ONE SOLE PERSON TO SAY THIS IS ONE AND ISN'T. Thats the great thing about music man its all about someones opinion. Doesn't matter if its north, south, east, or west. And how the fuck you know what the nation thinks about it? Damn..Mr. Know it all..Music is Music.
