This is what I think. Allot of rappers/ artist get to a certain point when everything stops. One reaches its peak and starting putting out the same music over and over. Eminem is a good example.

He put out crap song after crap song until one day. He relized that he put out crap music. He relized his last to cds were total crap. After this he stayed in the booth and jumped back with recovery. Eminem once again took over the rap game. Eminem became hungry, he got his flow back, he got his visions back. THAT made him give out a quality cd again. Wayne has reached the top and put out 3 crap albums and is really fucking up his legecy as the best rapper alive.

My point is, Wayne will not make great music again until he relizes he lost it. Eminem did it, but that was after 2 albums, wayne is on his fourth and still gives us the same crappy songs.

I hope wayne one day wakes up, puts on 3peat, hustler music, shooter and really listens to his flow, his lyrics and swag. After he does this he puts on prom queen, how to hate etc and asks himself. WTF happend. WTF am i doing. I made hustler music and now i am making prom queen. I want to make classics again.
Do you think Wayne will follow in Eminem's footsteps and do something similar? Though I love Tha Carter IV, I want to hear Wayne say on a track that he doesn't think Tha Carter IV is good.

Really good thread Sportz, glad to see a good discussion started up. Personally I agree with many of the things that have been said thus far. I largely agree with dalla, Wayne has to reach that point where he comes to the realization that the quality of his music has taken a negative turn. I love the fact that Eminem acknowledged the fact that Relapse was not a good album, he's not so arrogant that he is going to act like Relapse was an incredible album when it wasn't.

What that trigger point for Wayne is going to be? I'm not sure. I do think Wayne is aware of the negative press surrounding Tha Carter IV, and he will probably keep it in mind. Right now I think Wayne is calling Drake the best because he recognizes the fact that Drake is hot right now, Take Care got largely positive reviews and Drake is hot. Eminem's situation was a bit different though, in that he was hard into drug's and nearly killed himself, so I think that was a large turning point for him mentally.

I gave this a thought.....since S4TW sounded so much better than Tha Carter 4 maybe that shit was recorded after C4......

like Wayne rushed C4 and wasn't back in his grove or whatever you wanna call it.....

thats why his ft's and mixtape were so on point in 2011....maybe idk just a thought

But the Wayne we had come to love was a perfectionist. He was constantly nitpicking at lines in his songs and even changing the most minute of details. Based on this, I think that if Wayne felt Tha Carter IV was not up to his expectations at the time, he would have delayed it again.

But are they really Yes Men? In the recording of She Will, Drake said "he heard a few good lines." I think we all agree that there were a few good lines in that song. So, Drake wasn't lying. How is he a Yes Man? He told Wayne the truth and didn't say anything along the lines of "OMG. This song is amazing. Instant classic!" I mean, that doesn't mean the other members of YM aren't of course. If anyone of them are Yes Men, I would expect them to be Mack Maine, Jae Millz, Gudda Gudda, and T-Streets. I would think those four are the ones that spend the most studio time with Wayne.

Twist acts like Wayne is God lol. Also, remember how Wayne always used to say he didn't listen to other artists? I have a feeling that isn't true at all, especially lately.

I don't think that was ever true tbh. When Wayne goes over another artist's song for a mixtape, he often pulls lyrics from the original song or raps in a similar style to the original song. He has definitely listened to the original version of all of the songs he has gone over on his mixtapes.
