And has all of this negative press already started to have a positive effect on Wayne's music? Is the negative press in any way responsible for the 10-15 recent features that have been amazing? Or has the negative press not yet had an effect on him? When will it have an effect? When he doesn't win the GRAMMY for Rap Album of the Year (though I think he will)?
I think the change took place when he got really comfortable with his career. He was able to put out an experimental album, and it still sold well.

The Grammy's just may make him look at things different, but there's no promise. The features are possible reactions to the feedback. His features before the album weren't so great, so that would make since.

As far as the press...I don't really think that has had an effect on Wayne much...its more so his team and his fans....they are so loyal that he can do no wrong and he knows that....so unless he gets a negative reaction from those two parties he will not change what he is doing
But why? When I do something, I want to be the best one doing it. That isn't cockiness or arrogance. Why am I doing something if I am not the best or I do not have the potential to be the best?

The point I'm trying to make is: Why is Wayne rapping to be "bad?" Why is Wayne rapping to not be the best? The Wayne before the release of Tha Carter III would never rap in this manner. All of the other rappers may not declare themselves the Best Rapper Alive, but they all think of themselves as the best. Why is Wayne different?

tbh i don't think wayne interprets selling 1 mil in a week as negative reception. and with the tour $$ he may figure he's doing better than ever, he's said even when he was the self-proclaimed best rapper alive that money is what motivates him...

he's never stressed specifically that he's not the best rapper until after jail

IMO Jail and being sober have to have a big impact. Maybe he started to feel old when he came out of jail and heard all new rappers. I think it's all about his attitude.

But money has always motivated Lil Wayne and Lil Wayne, since he started rapping, has always been relatively rich. Sure, he is much richer now, but why has his attitude changed? Where did his hunger go and why did it go?

You're not supposed to. You're supposed to try to.

How would you characterize his current attitude? Do you see his attitude getting any "better" in the future?

Re: Do you think these kind of things anger Wayne?

                        Very good thread!

This is what I think. Allot of rappers/ artist get to a certain point when everything stops. One reaches its peak and starting putting out the same music over and over. Eminem is a good example.

He put out crap song after crap song until one day. He relized that he put out crap music. He relized his last to cds were total crap. After this he stayed in the booth and jumped back with recovery. Eminem once again took over the rap game. Eminem became hungry, he got his flow back, he got his visions back. THAT made him give out a quality cd again. Wayne has reached the top and put out 3 crap albums and is really fucking up his legecy as the best rapper alive.

My point is, Wayne will not make great music again until he relizes he lost it. Eminem did it, but that was after 2 albums, wayne is on his fourth and still gives us the same crappy songs.

I hope wayne one day wakes up, puts on 3peat, hustler music, shooter and really listens to his flow, his lyrics and swag. After he does this he puts on prom queen, how to hate etc and asks himself. WTF happend. WTF am i doing. I made hustler music and now i am making prom queen. I want to make classics again.

He rush C4 I think and didn't really care. Whatever mix tape he drops next will be fire I think. But we shall see. He also was adjusting to being out of jail and being sober during C4, he's better adjusted now I think. But like I said, we'll wait for this mixtape to drop.
