I think he would also still be considered "The Best Rapper Alive" without everybody saying "Fuck Wayne he sucks" like everybody says now. I also think he still would have won a Grammy without having to go mainstream.
    Rebirth is absolutely not mainstream
So Lil Wayne, Whats your motivation?

    'Is that really a question?
Do you really have that written down in your notepad?
You should be ashamed of yourself
    You smell me girl
    I smell like money'

Wayne didn't go mainstream in the hot boys days or C1 or C2. You guys think hustle musik or go DJ is mainstream?
Those are definately mainstream. Anything backed by a large company is mainstream. The fact that it was shown on TV makes it mainstream. A good example of an underground artist is Immortal Technique.

I don't think either of those tracks are mainstream.

I would have to agree except for "Drop the World".

I think your're getting a little too exact with the meaning of mainstream music.

Maybe but I think its crazy to say C1 and C2 aren't mainstream. Mainstream isn't a bad thing it's just the truth.

Tha Carter III just plummeted him to another level, but he always was mainstream.

And to your other post, yeah. Hustler Musik & Go D. J. were mainstream songs.

Especially Go D. J.. It was one of those overplayed songs where you got tired of hearing it on the radio

And like TCG said, it's not a bad thing as long as it's good music.

If your song gets played on 106 & Park it's mainstream for sure lol

                    Yeah.

But even some songs that don't make the radio (For example, Blunt Blowin', MegaMan, hell, the whole Tha Carter IV) are mainstream. Because of the fact it's Lil' Wayne and people will listen to Lil' Wayne

Maino is a mainstream rapper, Immortal Technique is not

U say "immortal technique" is not, but If what ur saying is right then dancing with the devil has been heard by ALOT of ppl. I guess it's mainstream now.

Mainstream is a song that has a pop influence to it, like how to love, mirror.....ect.

Btw if a song isn't "mainstream" that doesn't make it an "underground" song...just putting that out. Lol

Non mainstream isn't underground but Dancing with the Devil was underground.. He's independent so it wasn't a label that pushed people to hear it. He's doing his own marketing through the people which is what I consider underground.
