No Ceilings, overrated?

What is so great about the damn tape? It has filler, it's not his best lyrically, and IMO, hence the IMO, it is just a way better Dedication 4. It has a better beat selection, less dick lines, less filler, and better features. I know i'm going to get so much fucking flame, but the mixtape is average. It's maybe on the same level as some of the old Sqad mixtapes. Wayne brought a lot of energy, effort and the tape is free. But it's far from being the goat, as some people call it on this forum. It does have some benefits though. It's easy to pop on and listen to alpha to omega, the shit is classic for a new Lil Wayne mixtape, and it does have classic tracks (Run This Town, That's All I Have, DOA). But, if I had to break it down fully, track by track, bar by bar and the beat selection, it's just a good mixtape. I'm not saying it's a bad mixtape, the mixtape is good, one of my all time favorites, but it's not the goat of Wayne mixtapes.

What do you guys think? I think it was great for it's time (Wayne was releasing bullshit like Lollipop & Got Money) and it has a certain charm to it, considering Wayne worked hard on it and it was free, but as a whole, it's not his best. I think it's a 3.75 mics out of 5 (Dodges bullets). If you agree with me, then thanks, but please don't flame me if you love this mixtape and you think it's his finest.

I am actually surprised you thought of NC like this. That is the tape that brought people back to Wayne after the 08 disaster and the declining 09 year he had. If NC was titled DD4, I would actually be fine with it. I don't see where anyone on this forum calls NC GOAT; I see DD3 praised more than NC here. So DD3 is overatted then? Prepare to be flamed!

Yeah, I wrote about that in the OP. It's a good mixtape and it was a lot better than Tha Carter III, but it's just good, to me.

I'm sure most users here (myself included), could listen to NC throughly and have a less likely chance of skipping a track. I say NC is better than C3 because it just seems more complete and had more structure to it. But I see what you mean, and I say it's at the level of his SQ mixtapes because of his lyrics and subject matter, they're very similar.

The reason I liked No Ceilings so much is because he made a lot of the tracks his own(if that makes sense)
Like he made them different, he didn't just go in the studio and go in on every track like he did for D4.
Lyrically it's average, but the lack of pussy this and pussy that, dope lines every now and then, great features, nice beat selection, and making the tracks his own. I'd put it over D4.

That's basically what i'm saying. But, me personally, I think he did a better job of making tracks "his" in DD3, but that's my opinion. He did an amazing job on this mixtape too.

I feel the same way, No Ceilings isn't the GOAT but it is a Weezy classic. No Ceilings had some of the best word play I've heard from Wayne and and he flowed like CRAZY. I give it a 8.5/10

SQ era Wayne has more drug and gun orientented raps and the flow was much slower and smooth. NC Wayne was taking it back to the 07 style, although with a faster flow. Neither NC nor SQ tapes are more complete than Carter 3 because C3 is an album that is worked on with different intentions.

You right about that, but the heavy heavy autotune, and too many features ruined the mixtape. Wayne is usually good with autotune but it didnt mix with most of the tracks to me, and plus hearing features I didn't want to hear made everything so much worse.

I dunno... I just hate C3... I can atleast make it through NC without skipping half the album, that's why I prefer it.

I'd say it's a LITTLE overrated but it's still a good mixtape imo.

It's not the goat or anything but it's definitely one of the best newer Wayne projects.

I am aware of it. I dislike it just as you do, but maybe its time to let go of the grudge now...we can't convert everyone's thoughts to be like yours yo.
