Forgettable. Pretty much every Carter album has made an impact in the game, except maybe C1, every other Carter album had longevity, including C4 because of the way it was promoted. C5 is pretty much already old news if we are being honest.

The same old lyrics/delivery/flows. Except for a couple of songs in the album, the majority of the songs just sound like every other mixtape he's been releasing during his drought. There is no creativity in his lyrics/delivery, he is just using the same old punchline formula, and almost all his lyrics are just predictable.

Outdated. Alot of the songs sound outdated, and obviously that's because he's been recording this for so long.

Wayne, just like Eminem, got strong rapping skills, but they both lack creativity now. They can't put a well made song where they not only rap good, but also make the song sound good too.

Sure, if we are going to talk about how good he's rapping here, then cool. But its the same thing over and over again, that it became boring, it is not original nor fresh. So it gets boring fast.

Its a good album, but a disappointing "Last Carter" album that I can't bother to listen to again.

Carter 4 was a better album overall than Carter 5 too.

C5 should have been like this imo.

        1. Intro
        2. Dont Cry (feat XXXTENTACION)
        3. Dedicate
        4. Uproar
        5. Let It fly (feat Travis Scott)
        6. Can't Be Broken
        7. Open Letter
        8. Dope Niggaz (feat Snoop Dogg)
        9. Vizine (could of been on the album if they didnt release it, the quality definently matches up)
        10. Demon
        11. Perfect Strangers
        12. Used 2
        13. Let it All Work Out

        I hate them thirsty bitches

However, I got to thinking: What do people ACTUALLY dislike about C5, or is it just a bunch of ppl being lil bitches cos of the hype and shit?

Ima go through it track by track, because when I break it down mentally based on what I've read here it seems like y'all like most of the songs -- in some cases A LOT. I am not even gonna comment on the production because I think for the most part we can all agree the production on C5 was immaculate!

1- intro -- doesn't count, but as far as album "skit" intros go it's the GOAT
            2- don't cry -- dope
3- dedicate -- dope, super lyrical
4- uproar -- banger, dope even if it annoys you. plus seems to be on many of yalls short list of fav 2018 Wayne songs
5- let it fly -- dope Wayne verse, cool Trav feature & hook, seems to be a huge favorite around here
6- can't be broken -- dope hook, bars all day.
7- dark side of the moon -- lots of people have a problem with this track, but even if it ain't your thing it's a chick song.. and it's only 4 minutes amongst a run of fire tracks
8- Mona Lisa -- dope, widely recognized as a masterpiece
9- what about me -- amazing pop song on par with how to love and lollipop IMO. some haters out there it seems.
10- open letter -- universally loved by all
11- famous -- depressing, but raw and honest.. a nice follow up to open letter. Reginae hook is way better than expected
12- problems -- not bad, but def not a favorite around here. too much Wayne trying to be new school. but still good lyrics
13- dope niggaz -- dope. old school shit
14- hittas -- dope. old school shit
15- took his time -- sick hook, some decent lyrics. not my favorite but others seem to like it.
16- open safe -- dope. funny af. swag for days. why some ppl dislike it ill never know. so u dislike mustard... so fucking what. you LIKE Wayne don't you? well don't sleep on some of his dopest lines and flows on the project
17- start this shit off right -- dope. old school shit. great hook(s)
18- demon -- def a grower for me (no homo), but different and dope, most of y'all like it from what I read
19- mess -- dope. lyrical, emotional. machine gun spitting sounds nice
20- dope new gospel -- beautiful hook, Wayne vibes over the production. few weak bars but it's all good.
21- perfect strangers -- dope. emotional masterpiece. fan favorite all around
22- used 2 -- dope. fire everything. don't think anyone here dislikes it.
23- let it all work out -- dope. another emotional masterpiece. fan favorite, clearly.

All that said, what exactly are we talking about here? People hating on a 23 track album because they don't like Dark side of the moon, what about me, problems, famous and possibly open safe? When that occurred to me I thought jeez what fucking ingrates some Wayne fans are. Crazy thing is I like all those less popular songs to varying degrees! I like the unanimously voted FIRE ones too.... but I just think C5 overall has a dope flow to it.

I guarantee ppl will respond to this some shit like "well song for song it's dope, but I just can't get into it. no replay value". This shit gets me so irritated. I mean, to each his own, but still... nigga gave y'all like 17 or 18 universally enjoyed tracks, and a small handful that are by no means trash; one could even argue they're some of the most mature on here. Some are just for the more adventurous or maybe patient listener.

If you can't get good replay out of this project, I don't know what you need. Another C2 or DD3 or D2? Even those had a few moments weaker than other moments.

My conclusion is: (1) C5 is either too affected by the hype and will only be fully appreciate by some of y'all after a year or so passes. (2) Wayne revealed too much emotion for you. (3) You genuinely just dislike these songs, which seriously makes me wonder wtf songs (since C3 and NC1) y'all do like... because Wayne is rapping better than he has since 2008 on this project.

            That is all.
Great review besides problems... problems is top 5 on the album
Don't get too high to look over blessings

Problems and Famous are not Carter worthy though.

C5 is a good album but we can all agree it’s not Wayne’s best. People have different opinions and I’ll say mine. In Don’t cry I’m not a fan of X( I find his music very depressing and not my style)
Songs like can’t be broken, mess , perfect strangers, what about me, demon, dope new gospel and famous. All of them are good songs but I would prefer them in some other album like “Devol”. There was so much hype and anticipate for c5 they could use that and put more songs like John, 67 foot and a Milli and Told Y’all since we all know wayne is capable of doing that easily. That’s just my opinion of how i wanted c5. Also the promotion sucked. Disappointed side bitch didn’t make the album, c5 in 2014 showed way more promising with Belive Me, dusse, grinding and the original track list

I like that Dope Niggaz comes after Problems because it is such a superior banger in so many aspects.

Just like I said: everyone loves different songs. STSOR, Open Safe, Dope New Gospel, Mess... these songs are disposable to some of y'all but make the album great for others. I disagree with the person who said this is like every Wayne project since C3, or whatever the claim was. This is a thoughtful Wayne who is comfortable rapping, having fun, but also steering clear of the dozens of mine fields that trip up his music for some of us.

C5 definitely has its fun moments (Open Safe, STSOR, Hittaz) but for the most part he keeps it pretty serious on here. Maybe that's because he knew the stakes were high for this and didn't want to tread the same old ground that's been getting him torn apart by critics and old fans alike. Maybe his crew chose substance over style, and in some cases both.

90+ minutes and we didn't really have to hear a graphic, childish description of his dick... we didn't have to hear the Krazy flow... we were given soulfulness (Perfect Strangers, Dope New Gospel), epic storytelling (Mona Lisa), devastating truths (Open Letter, Let it all work out), wild lyrical tangents (open safe, let it fly, STSOR), catchy pop songs (What About Me, Dark Side)... and so much more.

What's funny to me is: the reasons C5 has great replay value for me are the same reasons it does NOT for many of you. Too many ppl I think get hung up on what THEY want out of a project. An entire album and we didn't have to make excuses for Wayne falling off.. that's a HUGE accomplishment right there. For the first time since No Ceilings I can bump this project without having to constantly lower it or feel a little embarrassed about some of the shit Wayne is saying. He's rapping like the GOAT again, and he gave us a mature and deep project... it's a real album on par with some of the most varied and interesting albums out there.

Dig the sadness of it. Dig the fleeting joy. Dig the confessions and regressions. It's the one and only time we've ever gotten this serious a look inside Wayne's head (no homo lol)

Couldn't see any songs being trimmed from the album. Even to appease all the people with apparent attention span issues.

But then again if it was still the compact disc era we probably wouldv'e gotten a standard albums with 14-15 tracks plus a deluxe edition with the rest plus the bonus tracks so everyone would be happy haha
