Wayne has plenty of songs with messages, Wayne is an overrall better rapper then Kanye.

He can diversify into any genre of music and make it sound decent - dope.

It's funny that you bring this up, the originator of alternative albums for hip-hop artists is Kanye, when he dropped that 808's album. It was revolutionary, also well received, and went platinum. Wayne having seen Kanye do it, attempted a crossover album that then flopped compared to his previous albums.

Are we really gonna turn this into a Wayne vs. Kanye thread?

not to disagree but why would you compare it to his previous work?

a crossover album is an artist out of their element. so it definitely shouldn't be put up against any of their previous work.

Rebirth was wayyyy more diversified than 808's.

Rebirth was a rock album, 808's was a Hip-Hop album with "poppish" sounding beats.

Rebirth had some trash songs, but for the most part for his first Rock album it was pretty good.

I'd like to point out I'm not the one who brought Wayne into this.

Because, even considering it was something new for kanye and rap as a genre entirely....808's can be held to the same standard as the rest of Kanye's discography, having sold equally as well. I was just pointing out that if you attempted to compare Rebirth to the rest of Wayne's albums, you would see that it was a drastic falloff.
