"God" is for people who need something to hold on in their life, I can respect that...people need faith & willpower and all that..
but if you say shit like "god is directing my steps and helps me waking up every morning" that's idiotic for me
"God" does not influence our life (anymore?) or do you think "God" directs the steps of pedophiles & child molesters and all the evil in the world?

Do you see what the fuck happend to Japan? Are even poor people supposed to lose the little bit of existence in their life? Shouldn't there be a "God" who protects people and who doesn't let all the shit happen?

I agree 100% with Wisheezy. In that God is an invention of man. Something humans could use to provide an explanation for everything that is here and why everything happens way back when we first got evolved from whatever it was. Now we know why this is all here because of science. They used to call it heresy and witchcraft and burn the people that questioned religion. To me, people believe in god so that they have something to look up to, to try to be closer to/connect with, to look to when things they don't understand happen. That's not a bad thing, but it no reason to ignore facts and advances in humanity, staying stuck in the past with outdated, redundant beliefs. Evolve, that's what we do.
I just think "god" is just people wanting to feel there is something controlling everything and that knows all to avoid changes/new advancements/controversy.

i believe in God and not because i had it forced into my brain at Sunday school it's because i chose to, and i dont try to force it on anyone it's either you believe or you dont. if you dont fine with me just because you dont believe it doesnt make you a bad person.

the same way that nuthing an atheist can say to me will make me lose my faith, in exactly the same there is nuthin we can say to an atheist to maker him or her believe. especially since we cant give them the "proof" or "explanations" they ask us for. oh and IMO if you need proof or sumthin you're probably better off staying atheist or agnostic

faith cant be explained and religion cant be touched but you know religion exist for me it's either you believe or you dont

Bill Maher( a well known atheist) invites people who believe in God on his show every week because he is comfortable with his way of thinking

and no i dont belong to specific sect or anything i look at it as a whole because separation amongst the three "major" religions is the problem now but thats just my way tho
