Make an Argument for why Wayne is one of the best in the Game
You really didnt like mama mia tho? I thought the voice switch was cool.
Can you give an example on C5 where "his voice is not eqd properly"
and no one wants 2007 autotune... who do you listen to currently? because maybe you just dont like modern music
in all seriousness dude mama mia is literally one of the worst wayne songs i have ever heard in my entire life. his voice sounds so bad i wouldnt even know it was wayne if i didnt see it under the track title. the end of the song sounds like he's having an aneurysm. & okay for example his voice isnt mastered/eq'd properly on don't cry at all. like...at all. xxx's voice sounds nice & clear & smooth while wayne's sounds all muffled & "disconnected" from the beat. i have seen multiple people saying this on reddit/youtube/twitter since nc2 so it's not just me making this up. go listen to rebirth & listen to how fucking unbelievable his vocals/autotune was..then go listen to d6 & tell me it even sounds remotely close because i promise you it does not. it's like it was produced by a 12 year old in his moms basement on a pirated copy of fl studio. and dude i'm sorry you're just wrong about no one wanting the older autotune sound. you know how i know you're wrong? asap ferg's no ceilings came out officially this morning. some of the TOP comments ive seen on youtube & twitter "damn sounds like old wayne with that autotune & voice". people LOVE his old autotune/voice because every single time he comes close to his old self those are the main types of comments everywhere!!!

if wayne is going to continue to use autotune.. this is the way he needs to use it & the way it needs to sound. this is perfect. it's literally the perfect mix of his old self and current self. voice is right in the middle being too high or low, he isn't high pitched the entire song. autotune doesn't sound weak & in the wrong key throughout half of it. vocals are mastered PERFECTLY. i completely forgot about this song till it just came on my shuffle. to me, this one song alone (aside from 2chainz he kinda sucked but we're talking about wayne here) fucking BLOWS all of nc2/d6/d6r/c5 out of the water.

i hope you like his La La La and Tear Gas features
omg of course dude he sounded fucking normal on both of those!!!! his voice was perfect. i dont understand why he doesnt rap like that 99% of the time.

Clearly you wont change your mind if you believe that... no point in continuing this. Who do you listen to that is new currently?
no one cuz everyone that's out currently all sound exactly the same & have absolutely no distinguishable styles or songs whatsoever. when i was in highschool we had wayne, em, kanye, t.i., drake, nicki, t-pain.. there's literally no one around like that right now. rap isnt rap it's trap & every beat sounds the same every flow sounds the same all the autotune sounds the same. its boring & played out.
but dude lmao what are you talking about EQing his voice is like one of the most important parts of mastering a song.......
I don't want to sound pretentious but I don't like people using technical terms wrong. You master a song as a whole, processing the vocal is part of the mixing process. Mixing and mastering are two different things usually done by different people.
As far as his engineers I think Mike Banger was moreso the recording engineer ( may be wrong on that). Mixing wise, Fabian Marasciullo is the guy I think did C5 and Funeral, and he has credits all the way back to like Go DJ.
Lil Wayne is the GOAT because of his longevity and influence. He has managed to stay relevant across 4 decades (90s-20s)
Guys like drake and Kendrick, were cosigned by Wayne and are cited as a big influence so you don't get those guys without Wayne.
His prime (2005- 2009) was just a Tsunami of Bootleg, unofficial and official mixtapes and tracks that flooded the market and everyone during those times had a Wayne project on their Ipod/Mp3 device.
Because Wayne has put out so many FREE projects, he cannot be seen as a sellout for doing Radio songs or 'Pop" tracks with other artists.
Kanye West can be excluded as best "Rapper" because he has so many ghost writers and his greatness is on the producing side.
My list of Rappers as far as influence would be Jay-Z, Wayne and Eminem.
My list of Rappers as far as Talent are notorious BIG, Nas and Tupac.
I like your points and agree, Tupac and notorious BIG are GOATS and sucks the new gen finds their stuff too old school to listen to...
The most recent "Old Sound" song is - Maybach Music VI in my opinion. It's clearly a production / producer thing as you pointed out @TrukDaWurl77.

I actually thought you've been trolling man lol. Like on some real shit, it's fine to disagree but to put it to you best..
You probably have a favorite candy, but imagine they stopped being made so your only option is a similar off brand version.
It can be good, but it can't ever be 100% the real delicious official version because it's gone.
If something is delicious / really good why is it discontinued?
Because it didn't sell well enough / other stuff was more popular.
But hey, if it's so good why did knock off versions get made?
Because other people believed in the ability to have success with it, even if not as much as the original.
With the original gone, the market basically becomes under saturated.
The discontinued brand is actively doing something else and it's not as good but it sells incredibly well because it's what majority of the people want right now flavor wise.
But what about those who loved the now discontinued product?
They are shit out of luck, unless they're fine exploring other brands or new flavors.
Brand loyalty is always a cool thing @when_it_snow_im_on_top but the brand should also be loyal to the fans in catering to
making what even a niche fan base want.
If what you want isn't available at one place, you go to another place and if you stop spending your time, your effort, your money the brand doesn't care because they have other people doing those things and their thought is they can always replace the fans/supporters they've lost with new ones.
I really liked this comparison. And I have to say, though I disagree with some points you and TrukDaWurl77 have said, I agree with others and listening to ya'll is a breath of fresh air. I love wayne but things have changed since his prime, and shit needs to be called out lol

I can still see an argument for now tbh. Who would you say is best of 2020?
You're not asking me but I think Uzi is in my opinion the without question king. I don't consider him the best rapper talent wise, but in terms of the content and sound, he's the best for me right now. He knows how to make a song better than most people. song structure and ideas go far. I'd say him and Lil TJAY are my top 2 of "this generation" But Uzi is 5 years in terms of being well known. He's not a rookie or young guy in the terms of his career, by age he def is though.
