  • Name your top 5 rappers of all time and/or alive and why?

My top 5 rappers of all time (no particular order) :
    1. 2pac - Very good lyrical skills, made a wide spectrum of music from "political" to "party" songs.
    2. Lil Wayne - Good wordplay and metaphors, also has a wide spectrum of music.
    3. DMX - Very unique still in my opinion, a lot of energy but can also make a wide range of music.
    4. Nas - Lyrically one of the greatest MCs of all time, undisputed.
    5. Eminem - Enjoyable songs, production skills are pretty good, flow is awesome, along with lyrics. Wide range of music.

My top 5 rappers alive (no particular order) :
    1. Kanye West - Production is very good, lyrics are also quite good.
    2. Lil Wayne (above)
    3. DMX (above)
    4. Nas (above)
    5. Eminem (above)

Honorable mentions: The Notorious B.I.G., Jay Z, Fabolous, Bone Thugz & Ice Cube.

The above is personal opinion, and I want your opinion to be based on musical ability and not based on other factors such as personality. Please also give a reason why you like these artists, and if possible in order.

    1. Lil Wayne - His music changed my life and I ain't heard a rapper who can flow and deliver better punchlines than Wayne. His work ethic is also motivational.

    2. Eminem - He got me into hip-hop and his rhymes are also amazing.

    3. Drake - I can relate to his music and I love how he can switch up his flows.

    4. 50 Cent - Always has solid projects with good production.

    5. Chamillionaire - His albums and mixtapes are definitely slept on. I've been listening to Cham for a very long time and I've always enjoyed his music.

Three honorable mentions: Lupe Fiasco, Young Jeezy, and Kevin Gates.

weezy for everything to do with rap period.

2pac for concept and true story raps.

drake cause he never has a bad verse and has been killing the game for a while now.

kanye west for production, energy and emotion in his music.

then it's between Eminem and jay z for their old music, but I think they both fell off way hard.

          1. Lil Wayne - He saved my life with his music and is the best rapper alive, period. Who fuckin got signed at 9 years old and didnt have shit and today he with the same Label/crew and a fucking millionaire. I love his music + lyrics + flow, hes the best.

          2. Drake - Love his lyrics, his flow and everything about his music pretty much. The storys he tells in his music, i love those.

          3. Eminem - Just listen to his album Curtain Call and ull know why i put him on this list... Hes probably the most skillful in rap alive imo

          4. Jay Z - He still make dope hits and he got a dope flow nd lyrics.

          5. Eazy-E - I think hes the god of oldschool together with Ice Cube (They the 2 best of NWA imo). He a real G, he aint no studio gangster like Dre or any of those Death row niggas. I love his voice too lols.

          - - - Updated - - -

Also ion get why niggas think Pac is so great... I mean he was good but only song i like was Hail Mary... Personally i think Eminem, Wayne, Jay Z, Drake is better skillfully..

Honorble mentions: Future, The Game, Nas

not everyone's a fan of tupac and biggie you know, i feel sometimes people generally jump on the bandwagon for calling tupac there favorite rapper because it makes them look like some sort of rap master or something but they probably haven't heard one album from him or even enjoyed any albums from him. pretty much everyone respects his movement though

my top 5 is in my sig

                      All time dead or alive:

                      1) Eminem - GOAT/Impact
                      2) Tupac - Impact
                      3) Nas - Illmatic
                      4) Biggie - Impact
                      5) Jay Z - Impact

                      Alive:

                      1) Eminem - The GOAT IMO. No one can match his lyrical ability, most people agree these days. Em has sealed certified GOAT status. He has the most classic albums of any rapper too imo.
                      2) Kendrick - still got a lot to prove and need way more longevity in the game but so far he's consistent and makes some great rap songs
                      3) Nas - Always been a Nas fan. He's a bit too inactive to maybe be on here but he still always delivers solid solid verses. Great rapper.
                      4) Weezy - Mixtape catalog is the greatest by far. C3 was a classic IMO. 2009 was his last great year though, since then I'd say it's been a downhill slope.
                      5) Drake - Consistent. Diverse. Makes bangers.
