    Re: Problems With Hiphop

I'm not gonna read everyone's comments but..
    Hip-Hop is very much alive.
    The new generation saved it,
    Wayne, T.I.

Without the new type of hip-hop, it would be dead.
Even if say Biggie and Pac were still alive..
Jay, Em, Snoop, Nas, 50 didn't keep the game up for long.

& you can disagree, but rappers like YM, SouljaBoy, Gucci, and the new gen.
are bringing something new. Therefore saving Hip-Hop.
It's just a different type.. Music changes.. If you don't like it, listen to some old school

        Re: Problems With Hiphop

i dont completely agree with this.
i hate some old school rap because the beats all sound the same and its just too gangster and crap i cant even relate to. nowadays i listen to music for the sound and for meanings. idc if a song has a million good lines if it doesnt sound well.
but like seriously, everything changes, i dont think i would like hip hop if people still dressed with shirts XXXXXL, pants that look like parachutes, rhymes that o n l y talk about the same gangster ish .. its a culture and people can either choose to stay in the past ...move on completly... or stay in between.. theres rappers that now how to move on and adapt like Jay Z, Nas,etc. and also just like back then everyone wasnt good nowadays everyone isnt gonna be a beast at everything.. wtf soulja boy, new boyz, and other artist fuck up the game.. but in the end times change, and there is rappers like Lil wayne, Drake, TI, Eminem, Jay Z, Juelz Santana, etc are the new era and keep hip hop alive nowadays... if the past was so good then it wouldnt be dead (for most people)

thats just my opinion tho, i understand everyones point of view

          THANK YOU.
It is getting more and more popular, more and more mainstream (which I dont really have anything against) but losing more and more its "soul" . Just like all other types of music but again rappers talk so much about being rebel (like rockers did 20-30 yrs back) that seeing them being copycats and making huge sums of money for nothing is even more stressful. Besides I love hiphop so it's fucking pissing me off to "have" to listen to something that I know has no value whatsoever and who's performer is an illiterate ego maniac mentally retarded son of a bitch (not exaggerating at all btw)

Old rap wasn't boring at all and most of it was raw emotion you could relate to. Now it's about who has the fanciest wordplay. Wayne broke the gimmick with Rebirth and it's my favorite album by him because it has songs with meaning and emotion to them. Being on a major label doesn't help either, they have a big say in what you put out as your final album and they keep these gimmicks for artists cause the label gets more money. It is all about money now and no longer sharing a message of feelings and life to people.
No I agree, Wayne fits perfectly into this, unfortunately. It's all about money, commercialised lyrics, no emotions, passions into the lyrics, or a real theme or message. Hence why i love Eminem, because it's the complete opposite for him, and there are a few big artists who keep things real and rap. + I agree with what D.A.S has said.

                      Wow i never think i would see the day where lil wayne fans discuss how there is no meaning in rap/hip hop today. What i get upset at is that you have someone like Drake Lil Wayne, or Gucchi Mane played on the radio non-stop. Or they are on magazines or BET. If you look down the list of Rappers who won the BET awards. Most of them are commercial artist. The only acception is perhaps Common. To me that tells me that these Hip Hop media arent concerned with preserving the culture as much as they are interested in perpeuating steretypes. I wrote a paper on this issue for my media class if anyone is interested in reading it let me know. In the meantime check out some of these songs;

This song is one of the most realest i heard. The first verse talks about black stereotypes, the second first is about white kids acted black then the last verse he is questioning why are most of his fans white.

This song is by a guy named K-Rino its about the masonic symbolism behind a dollar bill. I should this song to someone yesterday and it blew him away.

This is just a small sample. Imagine if they had these kinds of songs on the radio.

                        Re: Problems With Hiphop

I disagree when people say rap is dead. its just not what it used to be (different, not worse). theres still plenty of good music out there, you just have to sift through a bit of shit to find it, which can be said about all genres.

In fact, with rap, if you know what style u like its easier to find good stuff than in pop/rock etc.

Sorry if im repeating whats already been said, but i just dont understand why people say rap is dead. Look at Em, Wayne, TI, Immortal Technique, Drake etc... i could go on for a while but the point is that these guys are still making great stuff. Theres nothing wrong with having fun songs that don't "address the issues", some people like that. And whats wrong with mainstream songs and club anthems, they have their place in the industry too.

Murs is real, but you can't have this kind of stuff commercial because the majority of people don't want it and it won't sell as well. It's money over quality and we have to live with that as far as right now, though I'm with you on the music.
