Like if they see a really good response to one record they automatically want to make their artist sound like that because they know they will be successful and bring in some serious money. If you're not this mainstream genre of rap you don't get anywhere with a big label and to make it on an Independent label is almost impossible now-a-days

Yeah, like Plies, have you ever noticed how his ONLY singles off any of his albums are always about women? That's how the label wants it, he even said it In my opinion a lot of these mainstream artists have sold out to stay with a record contract 
And the fans play a big role too, they basically control everything because if they don't like the music you are putting out, you get a bad response until you sell out and change. Fans now-a-days are close minded but we all have to be open minded in order to actually listen to good music.
