For those of you using sales to justify who is the best rapper, you need to realize there is so much unnoticed talent in the world who haven't sold one album yet, but are all over the internet with mixtapes. For all we know, with a little help and attention Dreezy could end up being one of the best ever. That's a long stretch of course, but you get what I'm saying. So you can't base your decision on whether or not someone has gone platinum 11 times or anything like that, you need to base it off why he is the best. If you like a rapper because of sales more than his music then you should leave this thread and go listen to lyrics, flow, consistency, and more that make up a great rapper.

Wayne. Flow, Style, Consistency, Diversity, Material-wise, Everything basically, and he's only 28.

To me, Wayne has what Pac had back in the day. He was still young and still number 1. Jay-Z i believe WAS good, but to call him the BEST rapper to this day, is not likely. Wayne is about 10 years younger than Jay and has already accomplished a lot, and still has a good road ahead for him. Wayne has went from rap, rock, pop, r&b and a little bit of techno and now back to rap. He was just released from jail, and three days later, was back in the studio. He has a fantastic work-ethnic, and nobody right now has that. That's why i believe he's the best rapper right now. He's the only rapper i do listen to, pretty much. Call me what you want, but i just like the mans personality, style, and work-ethnic.

In my opinion, that is all... it's Tupac just because I grew up on him and he was really the first rapper I was really into; same with Eminem him and pac were all i listened to in grade 5 lol. I think Lil wayne is pretty damn close behind them.

Tbh, I enjoyed Rebirth and I love some of Wayne's rock shit..It's unique, Like his own type of Rock. But ya, I want straight rap for D4 & maybe 1 or 2 rock beats for C4.

For me it's easily Eminem.

Eminem not only is the best selling rapper of ALL TIME but he has the best lyrics by far in rap. No one can touch him, his flow, story telling, punches, consistency, commercial success, unique-ness and diversity and finally wordplay is just beyond this world and he pretty much always delivers on every track he spits on.

For me, The Eminem Show is the best rap album of all time. The lyrics are so genious and powerful, the production is crazy on every track and I could listen to every song and love it.


One of the great reasons about Eminem is that you can relate to his music so well. He has a song for everything. If you're really pissed off and angry there's plenty of song you can hype to and listen to. If you want some mind blowing story telling songs you got all types of them, if you want a commecial success then all you need to do is look at Lose yourself which is the best selling rap single of all time aswell.

Eminem for me is just untouchable, and especially to be so amazingly successful in a genre where it's dominated by black artists he really deserves credit.

Of course he has bad points, I'm not saying he doesn't, because every artist has flaws. And one main one would be that Eminems work ethic isn't as great as a lot of artists (Wayne, Kanye, etc) but for me, he hasn't put out a bad album. He may have albums which aren't as good as what you expect from Eminem but Eminem's worst lyrics are most rappers best lyrics.

I'm not saying everything is down to sales, because it definitely isn't. However, you can't say it isn't a large factor as to who is very good at what they do. You can't say there's plenty of rappers out there who aren't noticed, because, if they were good enough they would've have been found.

People don't buy music they don't like or thinks good. Hence why it does reflect who is good because if the music was shit then no one would buy it, the fact remains that people buy music they like and relate to, for me, this shows that Eminem is insane.

Jadakiss, Kanye, Raekwon, Rakim, Immortal Technique, & 50 Cent are not better the Weezy.

umm wow. Do you even listen to any of them? They definitely have more talent than Wayne has right now. Rakim is one of the top 5 best rappers ever, wayne is not, he's maybe top 80

anyway, I don't even know who I think is the #1 best rapper but if I'd have to say one, I'd say Nas. He's lyrically better than 98% of other rappers, and influenced so many other great rappers. Illmatic is one of the best hip hop albums ever not to mention Stillmatic & It Was Written were great albums too.
